Canton Apartments Prepares for Parking Garage Demolition

June 24, 2024

OKLAHOMA CITY — Humphreys Capital, in partnership with Hines, announces the upcoming demolition of the Canton Apartments parking garage, an essential step towards the redevelopment of one of Oklahoma City’s premier sites. The ownership group had hoped to begin demolition in March but faced delays waiting for OG&E to remove their electrical infrastructure. Despite the delay, OG&E started the removal process on Friday, June 21, paving the way for demolition to proceed in the coming days and weeks. The clearing of the site comes following an ongoing legal battle more than two years after errors by an OG&E contractor led to the largest commercial fire in Oklahoma City’s history.

Post-Demolition Vision and Future Redevelopment
Following the demolition of the garage and removal of the debris, the site will be maintained as an irrigated lawn as it awaits redevelopment. While redevelopment details have not been finalized, the partnership believes the site remains one of the city’s premier residential development opportunities. The site is located at NW 63rd and Grand Boulevard and is adjacent to Whole Foods, Classen Curve, The Ellison Hotel, and the Nichols Hills Plaza featuring Trader Joe’s.
